We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Support Lead / Coatings to join a global paint / coatings manufacturer. Play a part in bringing color to the world with world class finishes and coatings!  You will play a key role in supporting the current coil coatings products for roofing, siding, garage doors, HVAC, and domestic appliance, among others.

Duties

  • Supporting production issues and improvements
  • Working to review customer complaints and warranty claims
  • Testing and incremental improvement of current products
  • Working with the new product development team to introduce new technologies
  • Review and direct resources to complete assigned Laboratory Work Requests with specific KPIs for on time delivery.
  • Reviewing long term field performance of products
  • Annual evaluation of samples at the natural weathering sites and making improvements as needed.
  • Work with the other regional Coil Technologies team to evaluate global products and share best practices
  • Represent R&D and interface with multiple stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Provide direct support of sales and marketing efforts by means of technical presentations or expert opinion
  • Foster the growth of employees (including continuing education, seminars, cross-training, professional societies, etc.)
  • Travel to customers and industry conferences, as necessary
  • Conform with all site and laboratory safety requirements and policies

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical, Chemistry, Physical or Biological Science
  • (5) years work and technical experience in paint / coatings industry is required
  • Good knowledge of coatings formulations and aspects of long-term durability with previous hands-on experience
  • Possess strong report writing skills
  • Pragmatic, proactive, quick learner, self-motivated
  • Proven leadership qualities and proven ability to develop team members
  • Comfortable in an international/multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication is required
  • Previous Lab / R&D in paint or coatings is a plus
  • Experience in coil coatings is a plus
  • Experience in construction material coatings is a plus
  • Advanced education is a plus
