Duties
- Conducts safety training for employees regarding required OSHA topics and other health and safety procedures.
- Coaches supervisors on recognition of safety hazards and employee interaction to eliminate safety exposures.
- Responds to on-site emergencies and accidents.
- Recommends ways to improve health and safety in the facility.
- Stays up to date on state and federal workplace safety regulations.
- Provide Safety support to site management and supervisors for the management of plant safety
- Conducts audits, identifies health and safety hazards and develops corrective actions
- Coach and assist supervisors and managers on incident investigations.
- Creates and presents reports detailing health and safety issues to management team.
- Fields inquiries from employees about proper safety procedures.
- Investigates on-the-job accidents and writes up reports.
- Identifies hazards or faults that caused the accident and devises strategic plan to remedy those problems.
- Assist site leadership in their communications with MSHA and OHSA.
- Monitors workplace on a daily basis to ensure all activity meets safety compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational or Industrial Safety or related
- Demonstrated knowledge of OHSA guidelines.
- Performs Safety Audits and trains and monitors Lockout-Tagout
- Experience working with/ negotiating with governmental agencies.
- Delivers Safety Training
- Demonstrates strong leadership, problem-solving and analytical skills and attention to detail,
- Skilled using computers to include, MS Office and database management.
- Communicates details of safety procedures clearly to employees.
- Exhibits ability to think practically and creatively to implement the best safety practices.
- Responds quickly and efficiently to emergency situations.
- Exercises caution and alertness at all times.
- Advanced Education is a plus!
- Professional Certifications/Trainings are a plus! e. Certificate in Safety Management (CSM)
