We have an exceptional opportunity for a Purchasing Leader to join a manufacturer of products used in a wide variety of industrial arenas including materials, metals, electronics and automotive. The company is looking for a high energy Purchasing Manager that will manage purchasing activities of the plant operations to maximize the value of cost, quality and delivery. Activities include providing tactical support for daily purchasing administration and leading planning and warehouse staff. Responsible for implementing and enforcing policies, issuing purchase orders, reducing cost and building key supplier relationships.  Raw material, international purchasing experience is valued for this important leadership role. You will juggle daily activities and priorities in a tactical support role and will be deeply involved in the daily administration of purchase orders. Serve as the main conduit between sales and Operations and lead the S&OP process.This is a great role with relocation provided to an area that has:

Job Duties: 

  • Responsible for sourcing all plant’s services and commodities while managing supplier price, delivery and quality expectations.
  • Ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Manages Storeroom and MRO supplies and reviews validity of requisitions
  • Works with supply chain manager to maintain optimum inventory levels
  • Negotiates lower prices, switching suppliers and/or reduces spend.
  • Based on requisitions and MRP output, places orders, reschedules and cancels material
  • Prepares bid requests and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Working with requisitioner to find lower cost alternatives.
  • Anticipates business needs
  • Determines present and future material availability, and prepares market analysis reports.
  • Identifies opportunities for service level improvements with vendors.
  • Engages in meetings and planning with all plant’s functions and stakeholders.
  • Implements programs such as VMI, consignment, and obsolescence reviews.
  • Determines the most appropriate delivery terms for the transaction.
  • Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery and inventories.
  • Manages the plant planning and scheduling process
  • Negotiates to extend payment terms with suppliers.
  • Estimates costs according to knowledge of market price.
  • Performs supplier reviews and rankings
  • Executes best practices and actively participates in LEAN initiatives.
  • Provides general systems support and process improvement.
  • Manage 2 reports and contractor.
  • Responsible for raw material purchasing.
  • Conducts supplier reviews and Partners in Quality Program.

Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS degree required; Advanced degree preferred
  • ERP system experience required
  • 5+ yrs previous purchasing experience
  • Possess demonstrated track record of achieving results, i.e. cost reductions, contract negotiations, vendor development.
  • Previous international and raw material purchasing experience.
  • Must have strong analytical and PC / Computer Skills
  • Preference for a high-energy team player,
  • Desire a Change Agent who is skilled in managing conflict and implementing change
  • Able to effectively juggle multiple projects at one time
  • Can work at strategic and tactical levels to support change initiatives and achieve increased work efficiency
  • MRP or logistics experience is desirable.
  • Professional certifications / training such as Lean, Six Sigma, CPP, CPPM, CGPP, CPDW etc. are a plus
  • Advanced education is a plus!
  • JDE and / or AS400 experience is a plus!
