We have an exceptional opportunity for a Production Manager to join a Global Manufacturing Client in chemicals.  As the Senior Manager on the production shop floor, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement of the total site’s operational performance.  You will motivate others to deliver results while continuously stretching personal performance at this batch chemical operation. You will lead Performance & Development processes to optimize operations and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drives HSE&S, Sustainability and Quality in the operations team
  • Communicates all KPIs using short interval control processes
  • Lead by example and ensure team follows agreed and documented SOPs
  • Promotes learning and growing by providing opportunities for role rotation.
  • Optimize processes and equipment using Kaizen techniques and continuous improvement tools.
  • Demonstrate understanding and application of 5S in the workplace..
  • Delivers options for how to deliver leading levels of service.
  • Drives a lean continuous improvement program across production
  • Transfers best practice in and knowledge transfer out into the plant
  • Learns the capabilities and constraints on the assets across the site
  • Optimizes the use of the assets to continually drive down operational costs.
  • Develop organizational capability in continuous improvement methodology
  • Conduct equipment changeovers to set timings and standards
  • Delivers the Financial targets for the site on a monthly basis.
  • Able to run all people related activity for the area - such as disciplinary appeals, LTR
  • Mentors / develops teams to grow the talent pool and drive engagement
  • Experienced using batch processing as well as filling equipment.
  • Skilled interacting with Customers, Community and company visitors
  • Uses Situational Leadership to effectively lead the team.
  • Practice in using EPIP/disciplinary procedures to maintain performance.
  • Implement and conduct process confirmation on strategic plans and tactical procedures.
  • Develop personnel to maintain the required processing capacities.
  • Train team to solve operational problems utilize Lean Manufacturing Techniques
  • Instructs the writing SOPs based on risk assessment
  • Provide proactive response to any “Near Miss” reported
  • Audit teams and correct any failings and deficiencies in HSE&S, quality and sustainability procedures or processes.
  • Recognize positive behaviors demonstrated by the team.
  • Actively participate in HSE&S, quality and sustainability risk reduction programs.



  • BS degree in an Engineering discipline or process-driven professional experience/qualification.
  • Can articulate successful experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles.
  • History of continuous improvement projects that deliver tangible results.
  • Must have experience with batch production/manufacturing operations
  • Previous Production Management and performance management experience.
  • 7+ years of managing employee safety within the area of HSE per OSHA / PSM guidelines
  • Knowledge of paint and coatings products and color is highly valued
  • Experienced leading and managing change to achieve targets/milestones.
  • Significant experience of lean leadership and strategy translation (Hoshin).
  • Skilled with coaching, training and driving accountability for goals.
  • Project Management or Client User Representative experience.
  • Quality compliance experience.
  • Professional training/certifications are a plus. i.e.Green Belt, Black Belt or Lean
  • Advanced education is a plus
