We have a hot opportunity for a Process Control Engineer to join a world leader in carbon and graphite materials at their refinery operations. You will work to implement and support process control systems throughout the facility. In this role, the PCE understands the basic plant processes and equipment, and applies the appropriate automation systems to those processes, including programming, hardware and software specifications, and start-up and operations support. You will apply knowledge, and practices of process engineering for timely identification, analysis, and resolution of process-related issues to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-efficient plant operations.

Responsibilities:
- Innovate and initiate new, creative ideas to increase plant efficiency, performance and reliability;
- Developing plant improvement modifications/projects
- Troubleshooting urgent and immediate operational needs for the plant; everything from Process Instrumentation, to DCS and PLC control logic, to Operator Control Stations.
- Work with Instrumentation and maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and maintain plant automation control systems and software.
- Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting programmable electronic systems (DCSs and PLC Systems).
- Review Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) classification / design to ensure compliance with corporate and Process Safety Management (PSM) standards.
- Develop and implement appropriate plant/process monitoring and optimization systems and perform Equipment Performance Evaluations.
Provide process engineering assistance/support to the Operations Team as required. - Process Optimization: optimize production processes through improved instrumentation and automation.
- Safely implementing improvement projects with multi-disciplinary teams, and supporting maintenance outages for routine PM tasks, productivity modifications or obsolete equipment upgrades.
- Troubleshoot and configure control communication networks.
- Support the optimization of existing assets, addressing instrumentation and process control system obsolescence issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Will consider AS wth extensive experience
- 5+ years of experience in process automation systems and instrumentation experience in Chemical, Oil & Gas or Petrochemical
- Skilled in base layer control and instrumentation (HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, etc.
- Extensive knowledge of process control systems, including DCS, PLC, and SCADA Hands-on knowledge of automation systems, control panels and field instrumentation
- Solid understanding of process control fundamentals, including PID control loops, field instrumentation, and process optimization techniques
- Understanding of process controls & advanced controls initiative- APC etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Professional Training / Certifications i.e. Professional Engineering (PE) license, Six Sigma or ISA certification is a plus.
- Advanced education is a plus
